Boris Johnson’s former family home boasting wine cellar, gym and cinema room on sale for £11.25m
The house was used as a base for Boris Johnson's campaign to be London mayor is up for sale, for over £11m
BORIS Johnson’s former family home has gone on the market for £11.25million.
The posh four-bed house comes with a cinema, secret wine cellar and its own gym - all over five floors in the exclusive Primrose Hill area of North London.
The property gained the nickname Rocking Horse House because of the rocking horse that for years sat in the front bay window.
The Victorian townhouse, which covers 5,200 sq ft, was once home to the current Foreign Secretary and the new buyer will not only be getting a luxurious London home but also a little piece of history.
The house in Regent’s Park Road was Mr Johnson’s base when he bid to become the city’s mayor.
The Johnsons hosted a number of dignitaries and MPs in the house and a series of media interviews were conducted in front of the property.
Not only did the 53-year-old live there but also his sister Rachel, the journalist and recent Celebrity Big Brother housemate, as well as his father Stanley, who appeared I’m a Celebrity last year and his wife.
Although the previous owners took the rocking horse with them, Johnson's father replaced it with his own hand-crafted horse, which was named Tarquin. He recognised it as a crucial part of the house's character.
The Johnsons refurbished it five years ago but the property retains most of the interior work carried out by the previous owner, screenwriter Lukas Heller, who lived there during the 1960s.

Stanley Johnson bought the property in 1994 and sold it to its current owners in 2011.
Richard Bernstone, director at Aston Chase, the estate agent: "This is unquestionably a special and iconic Primrose Hill property.
"For many years it was known locally as The Rocking Horse House due to the beautiful wooden rocking horse placed by the Johnsons who carried on the tradition of the previous owners which was clearly visible in the front bay window."
Boris currently lives in Islington.
