Greggs Valentine’s Day meal sells out in 20 minutes – and customers are NOT happy

IF all you wanted for Valentine's day is a Greggs' freshly-baked feast - you're not the only one.

The bakery chain's dine-in Valentine's meal sold out in just 20 minutes after bookings on OpenTable opened this morning.

Frustrated Greggs fans desperate to get a seat took it to Twitter to complain.

One user said: "Are all the tables book already?? Been trying since it went live."

"Refreshed constantly and ditto, very poorly communicated by Greggs and Opentable clearly not the right platform for this sort of offer," another frustrated customer added.

"Greggs you are the worst :'( been waiting over 2 hours just to read you tweeting to wait for bookings and not giving a time, and then when it does there's no chance to even book :(," a third one said.

Another customer complained: "Arggghhhhh!! Kept asking when it was going online, missed it because it's in the middle of the working day when I can't watch your Twitter permanently, went on two minutes after you announced and now fully booked. What a let down Greggs!"

For the lucky ones that did manage to get a table, Greggs is offering you and your other half the chance to eat a four course meal in one of their stores.

The special meal features some of the restaurant's favourites including classic canapes of seasoned pork puff pastry sliders, love heart garnished bakes and brochette of doughnuts.

They're even throwing in a glass of Italian prosecco each. Have you ever heard of such fancy finery from Greggs?

It's the first time the bakery will be offering the service but sadly it's only available in a handful of stores.

Out of the 1,800 Greggs stores in the UK, you'll only be able to dine in at FIVE of them: Clapham Road, Stockwell, London; City Tower in Manchester; Argyle Street in Glasgow; Grainger Street in Newcastle; and Cardiff's Queen Street.

The four course set menu including your fizz will cost £15 for two and you'll be seated for 7pm.

What's on the Valentine's Day menu at Greggs?

HERE'S what you and your lover can expect to feast on at Greggs on the most romantic day of the year:

Starter: A composition of canapés - seasoned pork and puff pastry slider, steak & blue cheese en croute, katsu tortilla wrap, Mexican chicken chipotle spoon, béchamel toasted honey cured ham square and tomato gazpacho.

Main: Your choice of signature Greggs puff pastry parcel, freshly baked to order, accompanied by oven roasted spiced potato slices and a garnish of fresh Apollo and spinach leaves and sunblush tomatoes.

Dessert: A brochette of miniature doughnuts paired with a rich butterscotch flavoured dipping sauce.

Petits Fours and Coffee:  Belgian dark chocolate brownie, raspberry and almond bite and caramel shortbread. Accompanied by freshly ground Fairtrade coffee made using our own unique blend of mild Arabica beans from Peru and Colombia and rich tasting Robusta beans from Tanzania.

To drink: Italian prosecco, soft drinks, still or sparkling mineral water.

It's not the cheapest option for couples on February 14 - you can get a meal in for two from the Coop for £6 but you'll miss out on the dining out experience.

Of course it's going to taste great but remember it might not be the healthiest option. This is what 2,000 calories at Greggs looks like.

Set an alarm on your phone because judging by the nation's love of the bakery chain, this one is bound to be popular so you won't want to miss out.

The bakery chain is also bringing back its cupcakes complete with a heart-shaped plastic ring for the big day, aimed at those who are brave enough to pop the question in an unconventional way.

Last week Greggs sent fans into a frenzy after it posted a photo of a "full English breakfast bake".

It is also exploring the idea of breaking into the fast-food dinner market by trying out a new evening menu at some of its restaurants.

Greggs are offering loved up couples the chance to enjoy Valentine's Day in one of five stores across the UK
