Here are our tips to get a pretty price for your wedding dress after the big day — plus you could win a caravan worth £40,000

YOUR wedding day has been and gone, your dress dazzled your groom, family and guests . . . but what happens to it now?

Savvy brides know there is good money to be made from selling their gown if it is less than three years old and remains in excellent condition.

Here are some tips for getting a pretty price for your dress . .

  1. Sell as soon as you can. The fresher your dress is, the more value it is likely to have. Gowns that are less than three years old have the highest resale value.
  2. Keep it in mint condition. Try to ensure your dress in tip-top shape. If it is not already too late, try to avoid any nasty make-up, food and drink stains on your wedding day, as these will cost you money later when you have to get them zapped by a dry cleaner.
  3. Designer and celebrity- inspired gowns will fetch more. For example, a design similar to the one to be worn by Meghan Markle on May 19, for her marriage at Windsor Castle to Prince Harry, is likely to be worth a fortune after the royal wedding.
  4. Check eBay to find out how much dresses similar to yours have sold for. Search for dresses that look like yours, then choose “sold listings” in the grey bar on the left of the screen.
  5. List your gown on specialist websites. If you want to sell quickly, consider listing it on a paid-for site such as Sell My Wedding Dress. If you are in less of a rush to close the deal, try your luck on free-to-list sites such as Preloved or The Dressmarket.
