Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s slash fuel prices by up to 2p per litre in fresh supermarket petrol price war
It comes after RAC called for further fuel price cuts due to falling wholesale costs
ASDA has slashed fuel prices by up to 2p per litre igniting a fresh supermarket petrol price war.
The supermarket has chopped 2p per litre of unleaded petrol and 1p per litre off diesel.
And now Morrisons have also confirmed it will be cutting the cost of unleaded and diesel by 2p per litre at its 333 filing stations across the UK.
This afternoon, Sainsbury's also confirmed it would also be slashing its prices by up to 2p for petrol and 1p for diesel.
It comes just one week after Asda, Sainsbury's and Morrisons slashed their pump costs.
Usually when one supermarket cuts its forecourt prices, the others are quick to follow so The Sun Online will keep you updated of any other cuts throughout the day.
Asda cut its prices on the same day that RAC called for a further price cut due to falling wholesale prices.

RAC fuel spokesman Simon Williams said: "This time Asda has announced a 2p fuel price cut with unleaded capped at 116.7p and diesel at 118.7p on the same day we called for a fresh price cut.
"It would be good now to see other supermarkets following suit with a cut and, ideally, introducing their own price caps, even if they can’t drop their prices as low. And we would expect other fuel retailers large and small to bring their prices down as well.

"The indicators are pointing in favour of drivers, who have endured higher fuel prices since July 2017, with lower wholesale prices resulting from a fall in the oil price and a strengthening of the pound against the dollar.”
Dave Tyrer, from Asda, said: "We’re once again leading the way and reducing the price of fuel as costs continue to fall.
"We’re the only multiple fuel retailer to have prices below 120ppl for both unleaded and diesel meaning motorists will save no matter which Asda petrol station they shop at."
Three ways to cut down your fuel costs
- Make your car more fuel-efficient. You can do this by keeping your tyres inflated, taking the roof rack off, emptying your car of clutter and turning off your air con when driving at lower speeds.
- Find the cheapest fuel prices. Use PetrolPrices.com. All you need to do is enter in your postcode and tell it how far you want to travel (up to 20 miles)
- Drive more efficiently. Some ways to do this, include:
- Accelerate gradually without over-revving
- Always drive on the highest possible gear
- If you can, allow your car to slow down naturally as your brake is a money burner
- Re-starting your car is expensive, if you can keep moving
