Bacardi’s got a new posh dark rum to woo over snobby drinkers – and it costs £25 a bottle

The 'sophisticated and complex' drink is aiming to appeal to fans with a more refined pallet

IF you’re a Barcardi fan then you’ll want to head down to Asda this month.

The rum brand is releasing a new premium drink called “Anejo Cuatro” which it hopes will quench the thirst of fans looking for a more refined taste.

According to the makers, the new rum is aged for a minimum of four years and has flavours of “mild vanilla, toasted oak, clove and honey.”

It has launched today and is on sale at Asda, and the brand hopes that the drink will help renew Brits’ interest in rum – much like what’s happened with the popularity of gin and vodka, which has soared in recent years.

Sales of gin were up £45million in 2017, and Brits’ thirst for it shows no signs of slowing down.

The Sun hasn’t had chance to try the new drink yet – and if you fancy trying the more “sophisticated and complex rum”, the 70cl bottle will set you back £25.

That’s £9 more than a bottle of its standard Carta Blanca White Rum,

Brits are increasingly keen to spend a little more on their spirits so they can get a better quality drink.

But that doesn’t meant there aren’t bargains available.

Before Christmas a cut-price vodka from Aldi which costs just £13.99 was awarded a gold medal at the Grocer Drink Awards.
