Aldi’s gin has been named the best in the world AGAIN… and it’s less than a tenner
The cut-price spirit beat leading brands such as Sipsmith, Beefeater and Gordon's
ALDI’S gin has been named the best in the world – and it’ll cost you less than a tenner.
The £9.99 Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin became a sold-out sensation when it won top accolades last year.
The cut-price spirit has now scooped a gold medal at the International Spirits Challenge (ISC), beating brands such as Sipsmith, Beefeater and Gordon's.
The prestigious gong comes less than a year after the same gin won a gold medal at the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC).
Meanwhile, the German-owned supermarket also recently relaunched its popular £6.69 Exquisite Collection Côtes de Provence Rosé, which sold out last year after winning a top award.
The rosé bagged a gold medal at the International Wine Challenge last year, after which shoppers flocked to stores to pick up a bottle.
Julie Ashfield, joint managing director of corporate buying at Aldi, said: “Both firm customer favourites, we're particularly thrilled that our own-label Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin, and Topaz Premium Gin have been successful at yet another international competition.
“It's always a proud moment when a distinguished awarding body recognises our own-label range.”

An International Spirits Challenge spokesman said: “Aldi currently holds the ISC's title of 'Supermarket Own Branded Spirits Range of the Year', owing to its range being the best supermarket drinks performers in last year's competition, so we were delighted to see more products return this year.
“Receiving a gold medal is a fantastic achievement, and a testament to the quality of the spirits entered.”
