Freixenet now makes ROSE ‘prosecco’ and it could be our new favourite tipple
Tesco is stocking the pink fizz in time for spring at it costs £12 for a bottle
A NEW, pink fizz has hit the shelves of Tesco - and it only costs £12 a bottle.
Posh prosecco maker Freixenet has launched its first ever Italian Sparkling Rosé and we reckon this could be our summer tipple.
You've probably seen the famous black bottles of Freixenet cava on supermarket shelves, but this is the brand's first ever Italian sparkling rosé.
Okay, so technically it's not prosecco - the fizz watchdogs will only allow booze made purely from white grapes from the correct region to be called prosecco.
But it is made with the same grapes and in the same region by the prosecco experts, it just can't carry the name. Besides, - and what's the difference when you're drinking it?
According to the tasting notes, it's "fresh and fruity with the delicate aroma of red fruits and an elegant base of white flowers and apples".
If you’re collecting Sun Savers codes:
The wine house do already have another type of pink bubbly - Freixenet Cordon Rosado Seco - for £1 less at £11, but it doesn't come in a fancy bottle.
But if you're after a cheaper Freixenet bubbly, then you can buy the Cordon Negro Brut - the one in the black bottle - for £8.50 at Tesco.
At the moment you can only buy it at - online and in store - but other supermarkets are likely to stock the bubbly in the future.
It looks like pink booze is making a comeback this summer because Blossom Hill has brought out a new pale rosé wine that costs £6.50
Plus Lidl is bringing back its sell-out raspberry and rhubarb gin liqueurs due to popular demand.
The Hortus gin liqueurs, which cost just £11.99 each for a 50cl bottle, are Lidl's fastest-selling ones to date.
Remember though, you should always drink responsibly.
