B&M now sell alcohol breathalysers – and you can tell if you’re over the limit for under £2

EVER had a big night out and wondered if you’re still over the limit? Well, B&M is selling alcohol breathalysers – and they cost under £2.

The bargain shop and firm behind the breathalyser claim that one in two of us have unintentionally driven drunk the morning after boozing.

They claim the tool can help you see if you’re over the limit within two minutes.

But, research done by Oxford University has found that the single use breathalysers might not be that effective.

A study in 2014 showed that the Alcosense single use breathalysers were only able to detect whether one in four people were over the limit shortly after drinking.

This study was only done on a much earlier model of the Alcosense breathalyser and would not have the same effects on a more recent version of the breathalyser.

A spokesperson from Alcosense has said that they recommend using their single use breathalyser at least an hour and a half after your last drink to make sure you get an accurate reading.

The Oxford University study only waited twenty minutes after drinking to use the breathalyser.

So you might not want to rely on the budget gadget before getting behind the wheel.

Although you can get the breathalyser elsewhere, B&M sell the handy tool for the lowest price.

The single use breathalyser is also available at Boots for £2 or from Halfords at £2.50.

If you want to buy a breathalyser with more than one use, the Alcosense elite is a digital breathalyser that sells for around £60.

Or Vic Tsing make a mini digital breathalyser that you can attach to your key chain and it costs £11.99 on Amazon.

To use the breathalyser just blow into the bag provided in the packet and then insert the breathalyser tube into the blown up bag.

From here just give the bag a squeeze and the tube will give you a reading to tell you your current alcohol level.

In England and Wales if the breathalyser shows you have a reading of 0.8 or higher then you need to sober up before driving.

Scottish drivers cannot get out on the road if they have a reading of 0.5 or above.
