MALTSQUEEZERS

Maltesers Buttons are a thing and they are coming to the UK very soon

MALTESERS are getting a huge makeover - and the new button sweets could be available this summer.

Back in March, Mars accidentally leaked that the sphere-shaped choccies are going to change to buttons.

They posted a picture of what appears to be new packets of Maltesers online, captioning it: "Apparently these are out in the UK (June)".

Judging by the new black packets, the chocolates will look more like a Galaxy Minstrel, which is also owned by Mars, and contain 166 calories.

Beating the sugar tax could be one of the reasons behind the change, or to combat declining sales.

Short Ts & Cs: Price per person based on four sharing. Subject to availability. Code/token collect. and date restrictions apply.

It's not clear if these are replacing the Maltesers as we know them, or if they're a new product that will sit alongside the red packets.

Mars is staying very tight-lipped over this one, but if they let slip any details we'll make sure that we update this article.

Details of the new shapes were leaked during preparations for a new online advert.

Last year, Mars was slammed for shrinking the size of packets of Maltesers, M&Ms and Minstrels by up to 15 per cent, while keeping the prices the same.

It was the second time in a year that Mars moved to reduce the number of Maltesers in its sharing bags, which weighed in at just 93g, compares to 103g the year before.
