Spend your Tesco Clubcard vouchers NOW before the scheme changes kick-in

Shoppers are being urged to cash in their points for vouchers now before Tesco makes changes to its Clubcard rewards scheme on Monday June 11

MILLIONS of Tesco shoppers will see the value of their Clubcard points slashed from next week - but you can beat the cuts by acting now.

Under the popular boost scheme, customers have been able to get four times the value of vouchers with partner firms like Pizza Express, Zizzi, Cafe Rouge and London Zoo.

But from Monday June 11, this will change to three times.

Essentially, it means that families could get £10 to spend at certain restaurants and days out with a £2.50 Clubcard voucher - but from next week they will be worth a maximum of £7.50.

Britain's biggest supermarket is also severing ties with 57 of its Clubcard partners including Halfords, HMS Belfast, Cutty Sark and Leger Travel.

Tesco had initially planned to roll out the changes in January but it  pushed back the changeover until June, following a backlash from customers.

ACT NOW TO BEAT THE CUTS

THE changes were due to be brought in January but Tesco agreed to postpone them until June 11 - giving you less than a week to beat the cuts

  • Tesco Rewards tokens are valid for six months
  • And currently you can still swap clubcard vouchers for rewards tokens up to four times their value.
  • So if you're planning a big family day out over the summer, it's worth exchanging them now to boost their value.
  • Remember that from Monday June 11 many of the best offers -  including those from Pizza Express, Café Rouge and London Zoo - will be getting worse.

The changes have also angered Martin Lewis, founder of MoneySavingExpert.com, who urged the supermarket to rethink the shake-up.

Fortunately, you can beat the cuts if you act right now.

Tesco says its rewards tokens are valid for six months "unless otherwise stated", so by swapping your Clubcard vouchers for a rewards token you'll be able to boost their value.

This is great if you're planning a big family day out, a birthday, or a meal over a summer.

This is not the first revamp to Tesco's Clubcard.

In April 2016, Tesco ended a separate element of Clubcard Boost - so-called “events” that doubled the value of vouchers on goods in a range of departments in stores.

Shoppers collect Clubcard points by shopping in stores, at petrol stations and online.

Once you've collected over 150 points in a three month period Tesco sends your points as vouchers.

Swapping your points for discounts and deals may be more sensible than spending in store. Read our guide on how to boost your Tesco Clubcard points.

HOW TO RECLAIM LOST CLUBCARD POINTS

MOST people lose or forget their Tesco voucher but it's easy to claim back up to two years of unused vouchers.

The supermarket doesn't remind you of vouchers that you have leftover, so it's up to you to check.

Log into the Tesco Clubcard website and check for unspent vouchers.

You’ll see a tab saying "my vouchers" and this will list the ones you still have to spend.

You can print the vouchers to use them in store or note down the number and visit the Boost website to exchange them.
