Burgers were assessed raw, and then fried by a chef, before being tasted blind in a varied order.

Co-op’s Irresistible Hereford Beef Burger were crowned the winner, scoring an impressive 82 per cent.

They were praised for their juiciness, appearance and great beefy taste - but at £3.19 for a pack of two they are also among the most expensive.
