Shoppers fury as Tesco suffers chicken shortage in branches across the country
Stores up and down the country were affected as frustrated customers from Cardiff, Birmingham, Leicester and Glasgow took to Twitter to complain
TESCO shoppers have been left disgruntled after several stores across the UK ran out of fresh chicken.
Outlets up and down the country were affected as frustrated customers from Cardiff, Birmingham, Leicester and Glasgow took to Twitter to complain.
According to trade publication , at least 12 fresh chicken products were also listed as "currently unavailable" on its website earlier this week including wings, fillets and whole birds.
When we checked this morning just two items were still out of stock, so it seems that the supermarket is in the process of resolving the issue.
One shopper, based in Merseyside, wrote: "So apparently Prescot Tesco has completely ran out of chicken as they're unable to provide any."
Another customer, from Glasgow, said: "Any idea why I've been unable to add chicken to my order for the past few days, is there some kind of national shortage?"
A third one, from Leicester, added: "Nothing available online either world chicken shortage."
Tesco blamed the widespread shortage to supply issues.
A spokesperson for the supermarket told the Sun Online: “Due to a change in packaging we are currently experiencing minor availability issues with a few chicken products.
"This should be fully resolved by the weekend.”
It's not the first chicken shortage that made the news this year.
In February, KFC fans were left hungry and adrift after more than 600 branches were forced to close due to a shortage of chicken.
The chain said its new delivery company was struggling to cope with supplying 900 shops.

Delivery giant DHL later confessed it was to blame for the problems, four months after vowing to "set a new delivery standard" when it was awarded the KFC contract.
