But now it can take pride of plate by taking the role of a plate and holding your roast dinner on it - well, in it.

The budget supermarket's Yorkshire pudding comes filled with British chicken breast and thigh, garlic and parsley roasted potatoes, onion gravy, a pork and onion stuffing ball and a British pork chipolata sausage.

Plus, it costs just £2.49 - so you can feed a family of four for under a tenner.

For those who can't wait till Sunday, Aldi’s "Chicken Filled Yorkshire Pudding" is available in all UK stores now as part of its winter range.

Aldi says there are 577 calories in its Yorkshire pud roast.

In comparison, a roast dinner comprising of four slices of turkey, three roast potatoes, five pigs-in-blankets, three stuffing balls, buttered sprouts, buttered carrots, gravy and bread sauce is a whopping 2,128 calories.

The news comes as Aldi has today announced plans to open 130 more UK branches in the next two years creating 5,000 jobs.

Earlier this year, Aldi launched Yorkshire pudding desserts in rhubarb and ginger crumble and toffee apple crumble.

Aldi has also previously sold Yorkshire pudding pizzas in pepperoni and meat feast flavours.
