Chocolate wafers sold at Morrisons are recalled over fears they could trigger allergic reactions
Packs of 20 Choc Wafers contain milk which isn't correctly labelled on the packaging
CHOCOLATE wafers sold at Morrisons have been urgently recalled because they could trigger potentially fatal allergic reactions.
Packs of 20 Choc Wafers made by ice cream cone makers Greco Brothers contain milk which isn't correctly labelled on the packaging - and it poses a serious risk for anyone who is lactose-intolerant or has a milk allergy.
Shoppers are being asked to return packs with a best before date up to October 2019 to their local Morrisons for a full refund.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA), which issued the alert, said the wafers are a "possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents".
Symptoms of a milk allergy include hives, vomiting, an upset stomach and even anaphylaxis - a rare and potentially life-threatening reaction which prevents breathing and sends the body into shock.
Meanwhile consuming milk when you are lactose-intolerant can cause nausea, diarrhoea, bloating, cramps and flatulence.
More on Money
No other Greco Brothers' products are affected by the labelling error and the wafers are only sold in Morrisons stores.
They are not currently listed for sale online.
The FSA advises shoppers not to eat the wafers if they have bought a pack.
Meanwhile chocolate cornflake bites sold at Iceland have been urgently recalled over fears they may contain salmonella.
And Asda has recalled its frozen smooth mashed potato because some packs incorrectly contain potato croquettes which contain gluten.
