Watch all the Christmas 2018 adverts here, from Tesco and Aldi to Argos and Amazon
CHRISTMAS adverts are always a good way to get into the festive spirit - with many actually marking the start of the festive season.
Here's a round up of the best ones of 2018 from various retailers including Tesco, Aldi and Amazon.
Sainsburys - Christmas 2018 advert: The Big Night
Directed by Michael Gracey – the director of The Greatest Showman – the ad follows a young girl performing in a school production.
Depicting a school Christmas show – a familiar event for many families – the advert follows the youngster dressed as a star nervously stepping on stage before stunning the audience, including her emotional mother, with a stellar rendition of the New Radicals’ classic nineties song, You Get What You Give.
The star is supported by a cast of 60 children - some as young as six - playing a host of weird and wonderful Christmas characters, from a nativity camel to baubles and presents and even a set of fairy lights – including the plug!
The film also captures genuine emotional reactions from the audience, as some of the cast’s parents are featured seeing their child perform the show for the first time.
The idea behind the ad is that we give all we’ve got for the ones we love.
Boots - Christmas 2018 advert: She's Me Mum
Boots' Christmas advert focuses on the relationship between a mother, Clare, and her daughter Molly.
The advert is set to the touching soundtrack of Robbie William’s song ‘She’s The One’ – adapted in the ad to ‘She’s Me Mum’.
The minute-long short film begins with Clare attempting to style Molly’s hair, and continues, focusing on classic, daily mother/daughter situations.
Kicking off the ad, Molly walks in on her mum Clare crying her eyes out to a film on TV, which causes her to roll her eyes at her emotional mum.
Then, at one point, Clare runs out of her favourite perfume – only for Molly to sniff her wrist, clearly having stolen the last few drops of the scent.
Next, we see Molly heading down the stairs all made up ready for a night out with her friends.
However, mum Clare quickly puts a stop to that, waving a pair or make-up wipes on her face to get her to remove it before heading off.
But everything changes when Molly spots her mum taking part in a choir performance in the town centre, herself made up in some classic red lipstick.
Closing out the advert, viewers witness Molly and Clare sitting by the Christmas tree, presumably on Christmas Day, when Molly hands her mother a small gift. And inside? A tube of red lipstick alongside a note reading, “Keep singing”.
Aldi - Christmas 2018 advert: Kevin The Carrot
Aldi's Christmas 2018 advert sees the return of Kevin the Carrot who first appeared in 2016.
It starts off with him driving a truck that looks like the iconic Coca Cola lorry along a snowy road.
But disaster strikes when he veers off and the truck is left hanging over a cliff.
It ends with the hashtag #SaveKevin - we'll have to wait for part two to find out if he's ok.
Argos - Christmas 2018 advert: The Christmas Fool
Argos' advert sees a creepy animated creature that looks a bit like Dobby from Harry Potter.
It runs riot through a family home, stealing the instructions to a Doll's House and tinkering with the Christmas lights.
Order is restored when the Argos delivery man turns up and splats the Christmas Fool with the door.
But some say that this could ruin Christmas for kids by proving that Santa doesn't exist.
Amazon - Christmas 2018 advert: Can You Feel It
The Amazon Christmas advert features Amazon delivery boxes with mouths singing the Jackson Five classic Can You Feel It.
It starts with just one box singing to a little girl at home while she's icing a gingerbread house.
The ad then shows lots of boxes singing together as it pans round different places where people are getting deliveries from an office workplace to a hospital.
It ends with the box singing to the same little girl as she goes to sleep next to a snow globe.
Tesco - Christmas 2018 advert: However You Do Christmas
Tesco's Christmas advert celebrates the different ways that families celebrate Christmas.
It starts off with a man sitting around a family dinner table saying "Yorkshires at Christmas - not in my house".
Then it goes round to different households where there are differences of opinion over how to baste a turkey and whether or not to have sprouts.
It ends with a Tesco delivery woman holding a box of Tesco's Finest goods and remarking on a reindeer lighting display which looks like a dog.
YOU’VE BEEN AD How much do you remember about these Xmas adverts? Probably less than you think!
Debenhams - Christmas advert 2018: Do A Bit Of Debenhams
The Debenhams Christmas advert is in several parts and shows how you can choose the perfect present for everyone.
It starts off with "the uncle" who does a smug face when he realises that he's got his dinosaur-loving nephew the best present ever.
It goes on to "the date" who gets her outdoor loving man the perfect gift of a flask and woolly hat.
The same goes for "The Best Friend" and "The Party Guest" who revel in the fact they've chosen the perfect presents.
