Lidl is selling an electric piano for £60 less than John Lewis – and shoppers love it
Lidl is selling a Yamaha keyboard for £89.99, while John Lewis is selling the same one for £150
BARGAIN supermarket Lidl is selling a Yamaha keyboard for £89.99 - that's £60 less than John Lewis is selling the same model for.
Lidl has launched a new range of musical instruments for "budding Bowies and Ed Sheerans of the future" in a cheeky nod to rival retailer John Lewis' Christmas ad.
John Lewis' festive advert, which launched today, features Sir Elton John singing his first-ever hit - Your Song - on a piano.
To accompany the ad the department store chain is now selling a range of digital pianos, which cost up to £872, as well as t-shirts, CDs and vinyls.
But Lidl today launched its new range with a cheeky advert for the Yamaha YPT-255 that says: "It's a Lidl bit funny" - and shoppers loved it.
Hundreds of Lidl fans commented on its Facebook, with many praising the shop for its advert.
One Facebook user said: "Lidl wins the internet today".
Another added: "I prefer this advert. Well played Lidl."
It's the cheapest price we've round for the keyboard online, so it really is a bargain.
Other items in the range include an electronic drum kit, which costs £49.99, and a guitar for £49.99.
It is also selling a ukulele (£14,99), recorder (£14.99) and musical instrument set - including a triangle, maracas and tambourine - for £9.99.
As well as a beginner's keyboard for £19.99, a bongo set costing £19.99 and a harmonica for £3.99.
The products will be in shops from Sunday 11 November, until stocks last. You can v.
Reaction to the advert has been mixed and many people have taken to Twitter to ask if John Lewis "even sells pianos" as it's not exactly known as a shop where you buy musical instruments from.
