THAT'S GRATE

Aldi’s Kevin the Carrot toy and others stars from its Christmas advert go on sale this week

Last year the carrot toys sold out within hours online, only to be found on eBay a few hours later with price tags of up to £1,000

THE carrot stars from Aldi's Christmas advert will go on sale this Thursday and they're expected to be very popular.

Last year, the batch of Kevin and Katie carrot toys for £2.99 sold out straight away online, leading some shoppers to try and flog them on eBay for up to £1,000.

To stop people from doing so this year, the supermarket is only allowing each customer to buy a maximum of 2 items of each product, just like last year.

Aldi is once again selling its popular £3.99 plush toy versions of the Kevin the Carrot family - as well as a new version of villain Pascal the Parsnip.

For the first time this year, there's also a giant Kevin the Carrot toy available for £19.99.

The plush toys are made from soft Velboa faux fur fabric and will be available in Aldi store shelves and online on November 22.

The traditional Kevin the Carrot plush toy comes in the size of 25cm x 7cm x 9cm, while Katie the Carrot is slightly smaller at 22.5cm x 7cm x 9cm.

The giant Kevin the Carrot measures 100cm x 40cm x 30cm, meaning it's a perfect size for the little ones to cuddle up next to.

Kevin's and Katie's offspring - the family of Jasper, Chantenay and a baby - comes in the size of 5.5cm x 5cm x 3.5cm for the parents and 3.5cm x 3cm x 8cm for the little baby.

Or if your little ones like the villain in the advert, the festive toys range also includes Pascal the Parsnip at 30cm tall.

All plush toy stars, apart from the giant Kevin the Carrot and Pascal the Parsnip, are wearing cute Christmas jumpers, making the toys all the more festive.

Aldi brought back Kevin the Carrot to star in this year's Christmas advert featuring a Coca-Cola-inspired truck.

In the first advert, the star was almost doomed after he teetered on a cliff edge following a crash with the vehicle.

But fans were delighted as the supermarket later released another advert showing the star alive and well - and defeating the evil, rotten parsnip called Pascal in a fairytale-inspired story.

John Lewis has also released Christmas gifts inspired by its advert this year featuring Elton John, but the retailer has been mocked by parents for flogging expensive £872 pianos.

Meanwhile, budget supermarket Lidl has started selling the same piano for £60 less than John Lewis, and shoppers love it.
