Sky Mobile to give customers free unlimited data tomorrow
SKY Mobile customers will get a day's worth of free data after an outage this week left users unable to use the internet for nearly 24 hours.
The provider piggybacks on O2's mobile network, which suffered a huge data outage lasting all of yesterday.
A second issue with sending texts that happened this morning has since been resolved, according to O2.
But Sky Mobile has confirmed that all of its customers will get a day of free unlimited UK data tomorrow.
So whether you're a pay-as-you-go (PAYG), Sim-only or pay monthly user you can watch, download and stream to your heart's content.
A Sky spokesperson said: "We’re really sorry for the issues you experienced on Sky Mobile yesterday.
Your rights when your network goes down
WHEN your network goes down, it's your mobile provider's responsibility to fix the problem.
If you feel the outage caused you significant problems or you waited a long time for the repairs to take place, it's worth complaining and asking for a refund on your bill or compensation.
To complain, you need to follow your provider's formal complaints procedure. Details should be available on its website or from its customer services.
If your problem is still unresolved after eight weeks you can submit your complaint to an independent Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) scheme.
Ofcom has approved two ADR schemes - and .
Your provider will tell you which scheme it is a member of.
"We’re giving you a day of free unlimited UK data this Saturday December 8, so you can catch up on all the things you’ve missed. You don’t need to do a thing."
If you're in debt to Sky it might be that you won't get the free credit, so it's best to check with the provider.
Following Sky's decision, O2 has confirmed that it will give pay monthly customers TWO days free as compensation for 4G data problems.
While PAYG users will get a 10% top-up or discount depending on whether they're mobile or mobile broadband customers.
- it will email all customers in the coming days.
Lycamobile and Tesco Mobile also use the O2 network to provide customers their mobile service, but they're yet to reveal whether users affected by the outage will be compensated.
More on money
Here's how you can claim money back from O2 and other providers after its network went down.
In October, O2 was down leaving thousands of customers unable to make or receive calls.
It also happened in September, as both Sky and O2 mobile networks went down due to Storm Ali.
