If you've got an old Game Boy knocking about, you could be set to make some extra cash.

When the original grey handheld games console was launched by Nintendo in 1989 it cost £67.40.

It featured a distinctive black and green LCD screen and a slot for players to insert "game cartridges" into the back.

Now, 33 years later, fans of the gadget are selling them on eBay.

How much is an original Game Boy worth?

Of course, consoles that have never been played and remain in sealed boxes are worth the most money.

And while we feel sad to see a Game Boy that has never been played, one seller managed to flog the console for £358.

Even if you've got a used gadget you could still sell it on for a fair chunk of cash.

Another seller parted with their used Game Boy along with its original box for £113 after piquing the interest of three bidders.

Is the special edition Game Boy Light more valuable?

The Game Boy Light is a backlit and updated version of the Game Boy Pocket exclusively released in Japan on April 14, 1998.

The Game Boy Light only lasted a short amount of time before the Game Boy Color was released in October and November of 1998.

It looks much like a taller Game Boy Pocket, but the battery compartment is shaped differently and is much larger than that of the Game Boy Pocket.

The battery compartment was designed this way to accommodate for the two AA batteries that the system utilised, unlike the two AAA batteries of the Game Boy Pocket.

It was the only officially released Game Boy to have a backlit screen until 2005 when the backlit version of the Game Boy Advance SP was released.

Some Game Boy light consoles are going for more than £620 on eBay.

Just remember that buyers can pull out of sales on eBay, meaning the item hasn't actually sold for the amount it says it has.

You can check if something's legitimate by looking at how many people have made a bid for it in the past - and how much they've driven the price up by too.

It's worth taking a look at similar listings to the item you have online to check if you could be in with the money.

And gadgets aren't the only thing that could make you a bit of cash - keep an eye out for rare and valuable coins, too.
