John Lewis’s Christmas Quality Street pic’n’mix runs out of favourites as shoppers hoard Purple One and Strawberry Delight

JOHN Lewis’s new Christmas Quality Street pick n mix offering has hit a snag - they keep running out of favourites like the Purple One and Strawberry Delight.

The service has been a hit with choc lovers fed up with the annual problem of being left with scores of unwanted ones - often the Toffee Penny - while the favourites get picked out right away.

Customers tick at least three of the 12 different types of sweet on a card to show their favourites and staff fill a tin.

But some types are so popular, stores are running out.

Fans have tweeted about the problem and when The Sun went in-store they were out of the Chocolate Toffee Finger.

A member of staff said: “It’s far from the first time. But before it has been different types of sweet.

“We don’t even know when we will get more in. Not today.”

A spokesman for the chain said: “The Quality Street pop ups in our shops have been incredibly popular. We temporarily ran out of a few flavours in our Oxford Street shop and we’re really sorry that some customers were left disappointed. All shops are now fully stocked again.”
