McDonald’s insider reveals you can always get fresh fries if you ask for no salt

One employee said he never orders ice in drinks because the machine that makes them doesn't get cleaned as much as they should be

A MEMBER of staff at McDonald's has revealed how hungry diners can guarantee they're always served fresh fries - by asking for no salt.

The tip is among a handful from an employee of the fast food giant who's lifted the lid on what you should avoid ordering and how to guarantee the best service.

The crew member, who worked at a branch of McDonald’s in Essex, told The Sun: "Order your chips without any salt because then we have to make a fresh batch of fries.

"We also have to clean out the tray that the fries are stored in to make sure no salt gets on them."

He also urged customers to visit the restaurant just after peak times when the menus are changing over because that's when the best food is served.

The employee said: "The peak times are eight and 10, 12 and two, and five and seven."

He added that the worst times to come are during actual peak times because of how busy it gets.

The employee, who didn't want to be named, also urged customers to ditch the ice from all drinks when possible.

He said: "I would never get anything with ice in it. It’s not the water that is used to make the ice.

"It is the machine. It just isn’t cleaned as often as it should be."

His last helpful tip is to never order a milkshake over an ice cream you could end up paying over the odds for the pudding.

It's because the mix that's used to make the drink is the same that's used for ice cream.

He said: "It's a white liquid that comes in a sealed bag that we pour into the machine.

"I just don’t see the point in paying for one or the other when they are literally made from the same thing."

A McDonald's spokesman said: "We encourage all of our crew to speak up if they have any concerns, offering formal and informal channels for issues to be raised."
