LOVE is in the air at Aldi, where couples can pick up a romantic Valentine's Day meal deal for two for less than £7.

The supermarket is playing Cupid by launching a range of luxury mains, sides and desserts - including steak - for the annual celebration of love, with prices starting from £1.59.

Unlike other retailers, the deal - which launches on February 12 - isn't a set price.

How much you pay will depend on what items from its high end Specially Selected range you pick.

We've worked out that the cheapest combination is a £3.49 Orkney Cheese & Chicken Gratin, a £1.59 side of Triple Cooked Chips, and a £1.69 Chocolate & Raspberry Melt in the Middle Pudding.

That adds up to £6.77 for two or £3.39 per person - making it a much cheaper alternative to dining out at a restaurant on February 14.

What's included in Aldi's Valentine's Day range?

HERE are all the options in Aldi's Valentine's Day range:

Mains:

  • Specially Selected British Beef Wellington (£5.49, 370g)
  • Sirloin Steaks with Pink Peppercorn Butter (£6.49, 400g, twin pack)
  • Specially Selected Truffled Macaroni & Cheese (£3.99, 750g)
  • Specially Selected Orkney Cheese & Chicken Gratin (£3.49, 360g)
  • Specially Selected Lightly Smoked Scottish Salmon Fillets (£3.99, twin pack)

Sides:

  • Specially Selected Triple Cooked Chips (£1.59, 300g)
  • Specially Selected Green Vegetable Trio (£1.99, 260g)

Dessert:

  • Specially Selected Raspberry Panna Cotta (£1.99, 2x115g)
  • Specially Selected Valentine’s Belgian Chocolate Hearts (£1.99, 2x70g)
  • Specially Selected Chocolate & Raspberry Melt in the Middle Pudding (£1.69, 2x90g)

If you don't fancy chicken, there are other options which are a bit pricier.

The most expensive combo is Aldi's two Sirloin Steaks with Pink Peppercorn Butter for £6.49, a £1.99 Green Vegetable Trio side, and one of the two £1.99 desserts on offer: a Raspberry Panna Cotta or Valentine’s Belgian Chocolate Hearts.

That combination adds up to £10.47, or £5.24 per person.

Beef wellington is another option, costing £5.49 for two.

But even the most expensive combo is still much cheaper than most Valentine's meal deals.

Asda's Valentine's Day dine-in deal is £15 for two - but that does include a bottle of wine or fizz, and a starter as well.

Meanwhile, M&S's deal is even pricier at £20 for two - but that also comes with more items including a box of chocolates, a bottle of fizz, a starter as well as a main, side dish and dessert.

If you are on a budget, make sure you look at the prices carefully at Aldi as the cost could increase depending on what you choose.

Of course, you don't have to choose your Valentine's Day meal from the Specially Selected range at all.

As there's no set price, you could mix and match with other items at Aldi, which could potentially save you even more money.
