Booths pulls packs of corned beef because they contain METAL pieces
Affected batches contain three slices of the sandwich filler and have a use by date of May 8 2019
BOOTHS has pulled packs of British Corned Beef from shelves after some of them were found to contain bits of metal in them.
This makes the sandwich filler unsafe and customers are being advised not to eat it.
The supermarket, which has 28 stores across the North of England, issued the recall on the Food Standards Agency website.
The affected packs weigh 100g, contain three slices of corned beef and have a use by date of May 8 2019.
Shoppers who've got a pack at home are being urged to check the use by date which can be found on the front of the packaging.
If it's been affected by the recall, you'll need to return the product to your nearest store in exchange for a full refund.
Your product recall rights
PRODUCT recalls are an important means of protecting consumers from dangerous goods.
As a general rule, if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer would usually have lead responsibility for the recall action.
But it's often left up to supermarkets to notify customers when products could put them at risk.
If you are concerned about the safety of a product you own, always check the manufacturer’s website to see if a safety notice has been issued.
When it comes to appliances, rather than just food items, the onus is usually on you - the customer - to register the appliance with the manufacturer as if you don't there is no way of contacting you to tell you about a fault.
If you become aware that an item you own has been recalled or has any safety noticed issued against it, make sure you follow the instructions given to you by the manufacturer.
They should usually provide you with more information and a contact number on its safety notice.
In some cases, the manufacturer might ask you to return the item for a full redund or arrange for the faulty product to be collected.
You should not be charged for any recall work - such as a repair, replacement or collection of the recalled item.
You don't need to bring along the receipt either so don't worry if you can't find it.
If you need any more information, or you are worried, you can contact the customer care team on 08002218086 or email [email protected].
Other recall notices to look out for include Little Willies veggie sausages sold in Tesco and Waitrose because they may contain bits of plastic.
