Littlewoods charges 34% more than Very for EXACTLY the same items – despite being owned by the same company
A silver Thomas Sabo bracelet costs £119 from Littlewoods but just £89 at Very even though they're both owned by Shop Direct
SHOPPERS are being charged up to 34 per cent more at Littlewoods than at Very for exactly the same products - even though they're owned by the same company.
Both catalogue sites are owned by Shop Direct and stock many similar items, but it turns out that bargain hunters are better off shopping at Very.
A bit of digging around by the boffins over at found that Littlewoods charges around a third more than Very for the same clothes, toys and jewellery.
They randomly looked at the prices of 30 products across the two brands and one of the biggest price discrepancies was on a Thomas Sabo silver bracelet.
At Littlewoods, the bracelet costs £119 but just £89 at Very - that's £30, or 34 per cent, less.
Shoppers can save £50 on a Fitbit Versa Lite at Very, while a Nintendo Switch is £85 cheaper than it is at Littlewoods.
The money gurus didn't look at every single price tag so it's not guaranteed that Very is always cheaper, but it's worth checking before handing over your cash.
It's also worth taking into account that Very charges £3.99 for delivery, whereas it's free on all Littlewoods orders.
MSE also noticed that the stock supply seemed to be the same at both stores - for example there was a "low stock, selling fast" tag on the Monsoon top on both websites.
The confirmation text messages and returns forms looked almost identical as well, which makes it even harder to understand why Shop Direct outlets vary so much in prices.
It's not the first time the retailer has been called out for this either - in 2015 we revealed similar prices discrepancies but it looks like nothing has changed in the past four years.
A Shop Direct spokesperson told The Sun: "We’re transparent about our pricing to help customers compare our prices with other retailers and pick the shopping destination that’s right for them.
"Very and Littlewoods offer value in different ways. Littlewoods offers a range of leading brands and free returns, as well as free delivery and different ways to pay compared to Very. Our customers value the Littlewoods offer."
In April last year, Shop Direct announced that it was closing three of it's warehouses putting 2,000 jobs at risk.
Some retailers, like Very, offer store cards that let you buy now and pay later - but you can end up paying over the odds thanks to sky-high interest rates.
Shoppers stuck with mounting store card debt save around £300 on interest payments by transferring it to a 0 per cent credit card.
