Deliveroo is coming to 10 new towns across the UK – find out if yours is covered

The online delivery firm launches in 10 new towns this week including Middlesbrough and Wigan

DELIVEROO is expanding and is launching in 10 new towns this week across the UK.

It means households in Wigan, Warrington, Mansfield and Harlow will be able to order from the takeaway firm this week.

Homes in Burton upon Trent, Nuneaton, Chesterfield, Middlesbrough, and Dudley will also be able to order to from this week.

Deliveroo is already available in 200 towns and cities in the UK.

Along with a range of well-known high street brands, including Pizza Express, Wagamama, Zizzi, KFC and Five Guys, it also delivers to a long list of independent restaurants.

The company, which acts as a middleman between restaurants and customers, was founded in 2013 and 17,000 restaurants are signed up to it in the UK.

The other big delivery firm offering this service is JustEat. It works in the same way and its delivery fee depends on the customer's location and the restaurant they're ordering from.

It was launched in 2001 in Denmark and now operates in 13 different countries linking local takeaway restaurants with hungry customers.

JustEat offers between 10 and 30 per cent off selected takeaways and often cuts out the delivery fee completely.

When searching for a restaurant on the website or app, you’ll need to put in your postcode and restaurants with a discount will be flagged up.

Deliveroo founder and chief executive officer, Will Shu, said: “Deliveroo is expanding rapidly across the UK, bringing more people amazing food and helping restaurants to grow their businesses by increasing sales.

“At a challenging time for the high street, Deliveroo offers restaurants access to new customers they wouldn’t otherwise be able to reach."

The Minister for Digital and the Creative Industries, Margot James, added: "It is great to see Deliveroo go from strength to strength and show why Britain is Europe’s leading tech hub."
