Aldi to open seven new London ‘Local’ branches – here’s where you can find them

BARGAIN supermarket Aldi is opening seven new "Local" stores across London next Thursday (June 28).

This will see the launch of a brand new store in a former Waitrose in Camden, while six existing Aldi stores will be changed to Local stores.

The seven new stores are spread across London's zone 2, close to the M25.

They include Aldi’s smallest store in the UK, at around 5,000 sq ft, in Archway. Plus branches in Kilburn, Tooting, Kingston, Romford and Eastcote.

Aldi Local made its debut in April with a new store in Balham of 6,000 sq ft, about half the supermarket’s typical size.

The new name aims to help shoppers distinguish between smaller city stores in London and the conventional-sized supermarkets.

These new stores will have chilled food to go and "food for tonight" bays near the entrance, along with a fresh bakery section.

The news comes after Lidl’s recent announcement of its first central London store and its plan to open 40 new stores over the next five years.

Meanwhile, Aldi's school uniform is back and you can kit out your kids for just £4.50.
