Around 350 customers reported problems with broadband, phone and emails at the height of the issues this morning, according to .
More than half of the complaints (51 per cent) were about trouble accessing emails, 45 per cent about internet problems and two per cent over issues with their phones.
BT's service status section of its - also said issues were impacting broadband, phone, BT Infinity, and BT email and Yahoo! app users - although BT later told us that only email access was affected.
The telecom provider's tool said customers living in areas such as Exeter in Devon, Skipton in Yorkshire, and Swansea and Wrexham in Wales had been experiencing issues with their phone lines since yesterday evening.
It appears that's also when customers - in areas such as London and Manchester - began having problems connecting to the internet via BT broadband too.
In a statement on the website BT said: "Our tech teams are working hard to get this fixed as soon as possible and we're sorry for any problems this issue is causing."
Later this afternoon, a spokesperson for BT told The Sun that services were fixed for the "vast majority" of customers.
They said: “Some customers were affected by a technical issue which impacted their access to email on webmail early this morning.
"Services for the vast majority are now fully restored, however a small number of customers may experience intermittent issues.
"Landline, broadband and mobile services were not affected and we’re really sorry for any inconvenience.”
Customers who urgently need to check their emails were advised to log into their BT accounts via the Yahoo webmail page, which is also owned by BT.
One frustrated customer wrote on Twitter: "BT mail has just logged me out and now I can't access the page at all on either desktop or phone - really need access to it ASAP! Is there anything you can do to help?"
Another said: "Hi @BT_uk your email is down yet again. All accounts not accessible through POP servers. Any idea on time to fix please?"
Someone tweeted the company to say the disruption was making it impossible for him to job hunt.
