Aldi recalls cheesecakes because glass pots may break
ALDI has recalled all batches of own brand posh puddings over fears the glass pots could smash.
The Specially Selected key lime cheesecakes and millionaire's cheesecakes come in packs of two and are packaged in their own glass tubs.
In a notice issued on the Food Standard Agency website, the discounter said that "there is a chance the glass packaging may have become damaged".
As a result, customers could hurt themselves on the bits of glass or some of the shrapnel may have gotten into the food.
The Aldi key lime cheesecakes weigh 170g and have a barcode of 4088600037844, which you can find on the bottom right hand corner on the back of the packaging.
The two-pack of millionarie's cheesecakes have a barcode of 4D8U0003785 and weigh 180g.
Your product recall rights
PRODUCT recalls are an important means of protecting consumers from dangerous goods.
As a general rule, if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer would usually have lead responsibility for the recall action.
But it's often left up to supermarkets to notify customers when products could put them at risk.
If you are concerned about the safety of a product you own, always check the manufacturer’s website to see if a safety notice has been issued.
When it comes to appliances, rather than just food items, the onus is usually on you - the customer - to register the appliance with the manufacturer as if you don't there is no way of contacting you to tell you about a fault.
If you become aware that an item you own has been recalled or has any safety noticed issued against it, make sure you follow the instructions given to you by the manufacturer.
They should usually provide you with more information and a contact number on its safety notice.
In some cases, the manufacturer might ask you to return the item for a full refund or arrange for the faulty product to be collected.
You should not be charged for any recall work - such as a repair, replacement or collection of the recalled item.
Customers who have the snacks in their cupboards at home are being advised not to eat them.
Instead they should return them to your nearest store in exchange for a full refund - you won't need to bring the receipt.
Both puddings, which have been compared to posh brand Gu puddings, cost £1.69 per pack and went on sale a year ago.
They have since been pulled from shelves and are no longer available to view online either.
In a statement, the retailer said: "We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your co-operation."
Other recalls to look out for include pale ales from Lidl because the cans have been over-carbonated so they're at risk of exploding.
Iceland has also recalled bags of frozen crispy chicken dippers as they may contain bits of plastic.
Shoppers with an allergy to sesame should be steer clear of batches of Tesco cheese burgers because they haven't declared the ingredient on the packaging.
