Walmart is selling pumpkin spiced spam for Halloween and we’re not sure what to make of it

FALL is nearly here and to celebrate Spam has launched a new pumpkin spiced version of its iconic canned meat.

The limited edition variety is now available in two-packs from Walmart.com, while stocks last.

According to the manufacturer, the new spam mixes "rich savoury flavors with a hint of sweetness, making it a perfect and easy answer for those warm flavor cravings in the fall".

It features a blend of seasonal spices including cinnamon, clove, allspice and nutmeg.

Apparently, it works well in a variety of recipes including sweet and savoury waffles, decadent grilled cheeses and fall hashes.

Manufacturer Hormel Foods suggests some fall recipes using the limited edition pumpkin spiced hash that includes , and a .

The new lunch meat has been so popular that it's sold out at Spam.com in under a day,

But you can buy two 12 ounce cans of the spicy Spam for $8.98 from .

By comparison, a two pack of original Spam costs just $6.28 - so you are paying $2.70 more.

The savoury treat was also being sold on Spam.com but it's since sold out.

Each pack of pumpkin-flavoured Spam contains 7g of protein per serving.

Plus, bear in mind that it includes 180 calories, 16g of fat and 40mg of cholesterol.

US nutritional advice is based on an adult eating 2,000 calories per day and suggests that adults should not consume more than 10 per cent of fat.

On Twitter, the new product had mixed reviews.

User Duryan said: "Just ordered mine!!! Excited!!!"

While Angela McGovern said: "Up at 5am on my first day of vacation to be one of the first to buy from //spam.com!! I hope there isn't a limit!"

But others weren't convinced. Kat Williams said: "I like pumpkin spice and I like SPAM fried, but the two together... I'll pass"

Nathan Stott added: "How can you be anti-pumpkin spice?! Pumpkin spice is the best... SPAM?! Blech! That's just sick and wrong in so many ways!"
