Nestled in the Wye Valley, Llanthony Secunda Manor boasts a formal reception room, five bedrooms a library and stunning views of the surrounding countryside
A STUNNING country manor once owned by Henry VIII has gone on the market for £800,000.
Nestled in the Wye Valley, 12th century Llanthony Secunda Manor boasts a formal reception room, five bedrooms a library and stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
Those wanting the full Tudor experience will also have the chance to host sumptuous banquets in the lovingly restored great hall.
The medieval property, seized by the colourful monarch during the dissolution of the monasteries, dodged the wrecking ball back in the 1970s after falling into a state of disrepair.
Courtesy of a 30-year renovation by a previous owner the 800-year-old manor in Caldicot, Monmouthshire, was saved from its fate and restored it to its former glory.
Current owner Becky Adorjan said she was sad to be leaving her “unique” home behind but was excited for the new owners.
Becky said: "I've always loved period properties, the older the better in my opinion, but never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect to own a building of such historical importance.
"When I initially came across the manor I was absolutely blown away.
"It has the most amazing sense of history, but as soon as you step foot through the front door you immediately feel such a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
"I fell in love with it the minute I set eyes on it and I don't think I've ever been more excited than on the day it became mine."
Becky revealed that the house has only had four private owners throughout its entire history.
She added: After years of hard work and dedication I'm proud to say that the house is now in excellent condition and has been transformed into a really beautiful home.
"Each and every room has its own unique character and charm and everyone tells you something different about the history of this house – I love it all."
The ground floor offers a formal reception room, characterful kitchen with the original bread oven recess and range cooker with four ovens and six burners, dining room, study/snug, downstairs cloakroom and utility room.
The gardens are to three sides of the property with a mixture of courtyards, lawns and a covered well.

Becky added: "It's the amazing sense of history and the building's connection with so many generations that I think I'll miss when I leave.
Philip Stevenson at Fine & Country Bristol said: "The property still retains many original features to this day with some very modern additions.
"An ideal property for anybody wishing to be their own king or queen, while lording it up it the banqueting hall, all the while looking across the green and pleasant landscape beyond."
