The three bedrooms on the top floor have Juliet balconies overlooking the water and a long terrace divides the house from the creek.

There are steps leading down from the property to the foreshore at low tide and moorings are available on licence from the council.

The gardens have lawns, a greenhouse, fruit cage and flower beds. Across a stone bridge over a small pond leads to a further lawned area and the private quay.

Tim May, from Savills, said: "It's a charming, slate-hung house with its own private quay on Mylor Creek.

"It's an idyllic position with direct water access to arguably the finest sailing waters in the UK. You've got Mylor Yacht Harbour, which has all year round mooring and facilities there.

"You've also got access into one of the best served creekside villages in Cornwall.

"There's beautiful walks around Mylor but you've also got a mini supermarket, butchers, fishmongers, doctors, dentist, village pub and a primary school.

"It's stunning, real Swallows and Amazons stuff.

"You can wake up in the morning, drink your coffee on the terrace looking down the river then jump in your tender and head off to your sailing boat or rowing boat with the kids, it's just lovely.

"If you like the water you can't get better than Otter Cottage."
