Earlier this month, Qerreti sold his Mercedes Benz S Class to one of the company's stores in Hull.

A payment of £33,097.25 was set to reach his account by 8pm the following day but he was shocked to receive a call because the purchase had been cancelled and he had to "immediately pick up the car."

'STRESSED AND DISAPPOINTED'

At 10 am on September 17, the company informed him via e-mail that the purchase had been cancelled because they believed he was a car dealer.

The 44-year-old said he intended to pick up the car but about an hour later he received a government email that read: "DVLA have been notified electronically that you have sold/transferred this vehicle into the motor trade and are no longer the keeper."

Qerreti claims he explained the confusion and informed them he is no longer the owner of the vehicle in person at the store and via email and calls.

Almost a week later he claims he has been left without the purchase money or the option to pick up the car as the government notification states he is no longer the owner.

"I've been very stressed and very disappointed," he said.

"It stopped me going to work, I can't go to work because of the stress."

A representative from We Buy Any Car explained the reason for this cancellation in an email sent to Mr Qerreti on September 17.

The email reads: "From a review of the documentation and information we have found about you, we have identified that your business is in the buying and selling of vehicles," they said in the email.

"As you have also been in possession of this vehicle for a very short period of time, we reasonably believe therefore that you are selling this vehicle in the general course of business."

We Buy Any Car has been approached for a comment.
