Replica James Bond car up for sale for £3.5m – but it’s not road legal
A REPLICA James Bond car is up for sale for £3.5million — but is too dangerous to be driven on public roads.
Gadgets on the Aston Martin DB5 include a working smoke screen, revolving number plates and simulated machine guns.
The limited edition motor is one of 25 produced last year and is an exact copy of the one used in 1964 007 movie Goldfinger.
But the added extras mean the car is deemed unroadworthy.
When Aston Martin launched the Continuation series in 2020, it was the first time a DB5 model had been built in more than 50 years.
Each vehicle took more than 187 days to be handbuilt in Newport Pagnell, Bucks.
The car was bought by a rich collector in Saudi Arabia and is being sold through Silverstone Auctions, of Ashorne, Warwicks.
Specialist Harry Whale said: “This left-hand drive example was delivered new to the current owner in 2020 and has resided in a private collection ever since.
“Its sale represents a truly exciting opportunity to join a rather exclusive club.
"Not merely the best-known model produced by Aston Martin, the DB5 saloon is generally regarded as one of the most famous cars ever built.”
