Range Rover is UK’s most stolen car… but does YOUR motor make the list

RANGE Rover has yet again topped the list of the UK's most stolen cars, after claiming the crown in 2020 too.

The 4x4, produced by Land Rover, was the most popular car to be pinched by thieves in 2021.

Vehicle tracking experts Global Telemetrics, listed the the 10 most stolen cars of 2021 with the Range at the top with Range Rover Sport.

The Sport wasn't the only model of the Land Rover family to make the list - six of the 10 cars listed were made by the manufacturer.

BMW also saw two of their models on the list, the X5 and X6.

Not every car in the top ten was a flashy model.

The Ford Transit was the third most stolen car - with the vans being popular with thieves due them typically holding goods and workers tools.

It comes as the value of stolen cars increase by £10million to £23million, compared to the value of £13million in 2020, Global Telemetrics reports.

Some of the highest value cars that were recovered include a Lamborghini Urus, a Bentley Continental GT V8 Auto and a Mercedes AMG 63 4Matic.

It wasn't just those cars with a higher price tag cars getting stolen

Some of the more lower costing cars that were recovered include A Vauxhall Mokka and a Volvo Excavator.

Geographically, the key hotspots of cars being stolen were London, Essex, Birmingham, Manchester and Nottingham.

Gavin Hennessy, operations manager at Global Telemetrics said: “Sadly certain aspects of vehicle theft will always be inevitable, especially for those drivers of highly desirable cars, vans and bikes, but that doesn’t mean vehicle owners can’t protect themselves.

"A tracker is the simplest way to ensure that should the worst happen; you can significantly increase the chance of getting your car back in one piece."
