World Car Awards – Best electric cars on the market revealed…and here is how much they can cost YOU

THE world's best electric cars on the market have been revealed.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E, costing from £42,530, is among the favourites to top the eco-friendly motors at the World Car Awards this year.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E costs from £42,530

The Mustang covers up to 379 miles on just one charge and can go from 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds.

It also has DC high-power charging, meaning drivers can recharge 79 miles in just 10 minutes at a high-power charging station.

The Mustang will be up against the Hyundai Ioniq 5, from £37,365, the Audi e-tron GT, the BMW iX from £69,905 and Mercedes-Benz EQS from £99,995 in the World Electric Vehicle of the Year category.

The award, in its debut year, aims to to recognise, support and celebrate the global transition to electrically-powered vehicles.

Among the judges feasting their eyes on the marvelous machines is The Sun's Motors Editor Rob Gill.

The electric Kia EV6 is thought to be a strong contender for the World Car of the Year category.

Costing from £40,945, it can cover up to 328 miles in a single charge.

Winner of the category will be selected from the following Top Ten finalists chosen from an initial list of 28 contenders.
