ONE of the most difficult things to decide on when choosing your car is the colour - and which hue you go for may actually give away a lot about you.
Which shade you go for can reveal your true colours thanks to your subconscious preference, according to an expert.
Brightly-coloured motors are usually driven by people keen to be seen, while darker shades suggest you don't want to be centre of attention.
Research conducted by new car finance firm examined the personality traits of drivers who own cars in the top ten most popular shades.
The research found that 31 per cent of owners chose the vehicle they currently drive purely for its colour.
White, black, silver, grey and red vehicles are a common feature on the UK's roads - with grey being the most in demand.

Top colour psychologist Karen Haller explained: "We have an emotional response and react to colour every waking moment.
"Colour can change how we think, feel and behave in an instant!
"The colours we choose to surround ourselves can help support how we feel, how we want to feel or how we want others to perceive us."

The Owl
If you drive a grey car, you most likely prefer to remain behind the scenes and shy away from the spotlight.
Blending in among the crowd is your forte, hence your decision to purchase a grey motor.
You typically like to fly through life inconspicuously without being noticed, while having a more conservative outlook.
Grey car drivers are measured, think things through and don’t make rash decisions.

“But there is a deeper meaning to our choice and many elements come into play. Our data shows that 31 percent of people chose a car just because of its colour.
“But in an ideal world, other considerations should come first, such as the price or monthly payments."
