I was fined £50 for taking too long to eat my McDonald’s – I’m furious

A MCDONALD'S customer is FURIOUS after being fined £50 for parking at his local branch - even though he was eating burgers inside the whole time.

The outraged diner was shocked to be slapped with the parking ticket after visiting the fast food restaurant in Coalville, North West Leicestershire.

The Maccies visitor claimed he enjoyed an extended stay at the restaurant while tucking into a meal and ordering extra drinks before the drive home.

So he was gobsmacked when he landed a £50 fine for breaking parking restrictions days later.

The disgruntled diner took to social media to vent his frustrations at the surprising note.

Posting anonymously on the Facebook group Spotted Whitwick, he said: "So annoyed, just had a fine for parking at McDonald’s for nearly 2 hours, we was there all that time eating and extra drinks, have now got a fine. Anyone else had this?"

Many McDonald's stores have a time restriction on parking which is usually between 90 minutes to two hours.

At this particular store the time limit is just 90 minutes, meaning the unhappy customer outstayed his welcome by half an hour.

The chain's car parks are run by a third-party parking company, who are responsible for issuing or waiving fines - so anyone wanting to dispute a ticket need to contact them directly.

In response to the angry fast food fan, some social media users commented their support and advice, including one person who said: "Appeal, it will probably get cancelled."

Another wrote: "Go in and speak to McDonald's, they might be able to cancel it if you can prove you were in there the whole time! Worth a try."

A third said: "Call and ask to speak to a manager, they can have the fine cancelled at their discretion (I'm a previous employee)"

Luckily, The Sun covered one parking expert's top tips to appeal a parking fine last week.

The UK's premier parking ticket expert Tony Taylor shared his top 3 tips on what to do when you find a nasty surprise waiting for you on your windscreen.

But many Facebook commenters were quick to laugh at the poster's misfortune, asking how he managed to spend such a long time at the restaurant.

One joked: "2 hours??!! Did you slip into a coma?", while another added: "Not so fast food. Still if you do order the slow cooked mcpork burger you only have yourself to blame."

A third said: "Two hours in a McDonald’s? What did you order? There are signs all over the place about parking limits,"; while another asked bluntly: "What the hell did you order?".

A spokesperson for McDonald's said: "We have parking restrictions in place at a number of our restaurants, with a time limit to ensure there is adequate parking for all of our customers.

"At this restaurant the time limit is 90 minutes and we make this clear to our customers with signage in the car park.

"If a customer feels they have been wrongly ticketed, we would encourage them to get in touch with the third party contractor who issued the ticket by way of appeal.”

The parking mistake comes after hilarious footage of another customer at a Maccies drive-thru in Whitfield, near Dover, Kent.

A hungry diner tried to order his takeaway on a big touch screen board - without realising it was just a digital poster.

video capturing the amusing blunder went viral after a confused diner stood tapping the electronic sign at the fast food drive-thru.

And fans of the iconic yellow arches should also beware of recent news to the menu.

McDonald's announced a major menu change yesterday, adding a host of brand new snacks and burgers as well as a HUGE price hike.

The fast food giant will feature Halloumi Fries & two new burgers at all UK & Ireland restaurants from today.

However, this does mean the Taste of Italy burgers and sides will be coming off the menu immediately to make room for the new products.

Along with these new items, comes a price hike for the first time in 14 years.
