PUNCHY PRICE

Mike Tyson’s Ferrari F50 is for sale with just 6,000 miles – the predicted price is INCREDIBLE

A FERRARI F50 once owned by one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time Mike Tyson is going under the hammer.

Only 349 Ferrari F50s were ever made and only 55 ever went to the US, making this, the 73rd F50 made, a very special car - with a very special potential price.

This particular car was finished on 13th February 1996 and 'Iron Mike' was the second owner during the same year, at the peak of his boxing career.

In the 26 years since it was made the car has covered just 6,200 miles.

It has also benefitted from a major service at a Ferrari dealership in Florida, with around £70,000 having been spent on it over the past six months.

Still, that's not much when you consider what this F50 could fetch when it goes under the hammer at a being held at Pebble Beach in the US next weekend.

Experts have the estimated price down as being between £3.7million and £4.5million.

When new in the 1990s, the Ferrari F50 cost around £350,000, or around £550,000 after inflation in today's money.

The Ferrari F50 is one of the most collectable cars from the sporting Italian car maker.

It has a huge 4.7-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and driving the rear wheels.

Its roof also comes off for what has to be one of the best automotive open-top experiences it's possible to have.

The F50 can sprint from a standstill to 62mph in just 3.8 seconds and go on to 202mph.

That's impressive from brand new supercars today, let alone one made 26 years ago.

The F50 was the Italian response to Britain's McLaren F1 and like that car, features genuine F1 race car technology.
