THERE are plenty of reasons to stick pictures of your car online, but you should try and hide your plates if you do.
It might be putting your motor up for sale or it might just be your pride and joy you're showing off on social media - whatever it is, it's important to blur your reg.
That's because once your numberplate is online, it's much easier for somebody to search out and clone.
Number plate cloning is on the up in Britain and the easiest way for these crooks to find what they want is on the internet.

Of course, you could argue that your plates are on show while you're driving on the road anyway.
But there's a far greater chance of somebody finding the car they need to clone online than there is passing you on the street.

People also argue that when they're searching for a car to buy online, they are instantly put off by cars that have their number plate hidden by the seller.
It's true that it makes it impossible to check the car's details and MOT history, which can be a hassle.
But the hassle for somebody not hiding their plates having to sort the fallout of a plate clone is far greater.
Because your plates are now on another car, any parking fines, speeding fines or criminal activity it's involved in comes back to the registered keeper.

Then it's the keeper's job to try and prove they weren't with the vehicle when the offence took place.
If there are multiple offences by the cloned vehicle while it's out on the road, the time can really add up trying to get it all sorted.
There are apps you can download to help you with blurring your plates or you can buy blank plates online instead.
