PARKED OFF

My neighbour’s driveway is being sold for £30,000… parking is already a nightmare around here – it’s ridiculous

A WOMAN is fuming after her neighbour's driveway was put up for sale for £30,000.

She has branded the listing "ridiculous" and claims parking in the area is already a nightmare.

A woman has branded the sale of her neighbours' driveway 'ridiculous'

The woman, who did not want to be named, lives in a cottage in the Cornwall village, Flushing, where two car parking spaces next to her property went on the market for nearly £30,000 each.

The spaces are currently owned by a London-based investment company rather than an individual, according to the woman, who added, they were originally bought 15 years ago for only £5,000 each.

Most of the properties in the coastal area opposite Falmouth are rentals and have little parking spaces available.

This has left the woman thinking they're being sold in a bid to attract owners who currently don't have spaces for their rentals.

She told The Sun: “Parking is a complete nightmare in the summer with very few public parking spaces.

“But the thought of anyone paying £27,500 for a car parking space is ridiculous.

“I think they are trying to attract those who come down from London as nobody in the village could possibly afford those prices.”

The spots are also just yards away from the harbour so likely to create more traffic and make parking for locals harder.

The spaces are being advertised on Rightmove and are now described as "sale agreed".

It's also available freehold, meaning there is no lease and it could be yours forever without additional ground rent charges.

It is definitely a lot of money to pay for a parking space but some in Cornwall can sell for as much as £80,000.

And a single garage in St Ives has even been on the market for a while for £100,000.

The Rightmove listing for the parking spaces also boasts of the convenient waterside location, saying: "An opportunity to acquire one or a pair of freehold parking spaces in the sought after waterside village of Flushing.

"Located 350 yards away from the village centre and harbourside.

"Two spaces to be sold separately at £27,500 each or £50,000 as a pair."
