For families or couples looking to get away they've been advised to drive at certain times in a bid to avoid congestion.

And as parts of the UK are set to see highs of 21C, warm weather could bring hours of delays as some book last-minute breaks.

The RAC believes these times are the best to ensure you're not in chock-a-block conditions.

A spokesperson said: "The weather might still be unseasonably chilly but this won't stop drivers getting out and about over the double bank holiday weekends to make the most of some extra days off.

"While we'd expect more short breaks and day trips to the coast this coming weekend, when it comes to the coronation it's likely major routes are less likely to be congested.

'"The big variable, as always, is what happens with the Great British weather.

"If temperatures finally increase and the sun makes more of an appearance, we could well see many more people jumping in the car for a quick trip."

They added everyone should check tyres, oil and coolant levels before hitting the road.

Busy roads also aren't helped by London Euston being closed on Sunday.

Planned engineering works will affect many routes up and down the country.

It comes after Heathrow Airport is set to face eight more days of mayhem as 1,400 staff members vote to strike again.

The dates include the Coronation weekend and the bank holiday at the end of May.
