10 cheapest new cars you can buy now – and they’re all under £18k

IN the current cost-of-living crisis, many people will be looking for a cheaper set of wheels to get them from A to B.

Although new car prices are more expensive than ever, there are still a handful of motors that offer up decent value for money.

Here’s a list of the ten cheapest cars in the UK right now, from Citroen to Volkswagen.

1. Kia Picanto - £13,415

The Kia Picanto is a great city car and cheap to buy, too

Kia's small city car is a stylish buy and comes with a good level of kit.

The Picanto rides well and also comes with Kia's generous 7-year warranty, which makes it even more appealing to buyers looking for the best value.

2. Dacia Sandero - £13,795

Dacia is focused on its mission to provide customers with simple, no-frills motoring.

The Sandero offers the size and practicality of a supermini, but is offered at a sticker price you'd normally see on smaller city cars.

If you can afford it, we'd recommend upgrading to the Expression trim which offers a few more creature comforts, but the entry Essential model decent enough.

3. MG3 - £13,820

As with the Sandero, the MG3 offers a lot of space for the money, along with generous equipment levels.

First introduced in 2013, the MG3 was revised in 2018 and later models offer a more stylish look, along with an improved cabin and better tech.

4. Citroen C3 - £13,995

Citroen's smallest car is now the C3 hatchback, after the C1 city car was discontinued.

The French manufacturer has introduced the entry You! trim level, which means you get slightly less kit than with other, more expensive, versions.

But, it does mean that you can nab a C3 for under £14k, while some hard negotiating might see that price come down even further.

5. Volkswagen up! - £14,630

The VW up! is a quality choice, despite having been on sale for more than a decade.

If you want extra power, you'll have to go for a GTi model, but the standard car is more than capable and still fun to drive.

6. Fiat Panda - £14,740

Buyers looking for a practical, well-priced car that's easy to drive, won't be disappointed with the Fiat Panda.

A bit quirky looking, the Panda offers plenty of space and is cheap to run, so covers most bases for buyers on a budget.

7. Hyundai i10 - £15,015

The i10 just gets on with the job without too much fuss - it doesn't excel in any one area, but it's pretty tempting as an overall package.

Throw in Hyundai's five-year warranty and free roadside assistance for the first year, and it's easy to see why some might fancy the i10 on their driveway.

If you're after a cheaper family option, then the Sandero Stepway could be for you.

The Stepway model adds SUV styling to the Sandero model, along with a bit more space, so what's not to like?

Cheap to buy, run and insure, the Stepway could be a winner.

9. Fiat 500 Hybrid - £16,790

Great for darting around town in, the Fiat 500 is fun to drive

With the 500 electric version priced at around £28k, the small hybrid model might be the way to go for some.

The 500's retro looks still win over lots of buyers, while it's fun to drive and always puts a smile on your face.

10. Dacia Duster - £17,295

If you're after lots of space, but sticking to a tighter budget, then the Duster could be for youCredit: Dacia

The Duster is a proper family SUV and is a much bigger car than most on this list.
