Rare 1968 Ford Cortina hits auction for eye-watering price – and it has amazing racer features
A RARE Ford with amazing racer features has hit auction for an eye-watering price.
The 1968 Cortina MkII De Luxe is described as "in the premier league" by auctioneers .
It comes fully restored and is also MOT, tax and ULEZ exempt, making it quite cost-effective to run.
The buyer will even receive a hand-written note detailing the car's build among the documentation.
Rally-style gauges for oil, fuel, water and amperage have been added to give the motor a feel more inkeeping with the model's racing heritage.
The MkII was produced between 1966 and 1970, becoming Britain's most popular new car in '67.

This version is powered by a 1,598cc inline-four from Ford's Kent engine range.
The listing for the auction reads: "This is the Ford Cortina MkII as so many of us will remember them - mild customs, using all genuine Ford parts and subtly modified to perform a bit better and look a little different to the mainstream.
"A GT replica was a common sight in the late Sixties and early Seventies and is every bit as nostalgic today as the real thing.
"This one is tastefully done and in terrific condition both inside and out - a very cool car indeed."
