Car Prince Harry used for dates with Meghan up for sale… as fans joke connection to couple could ‘devalue’ luxury motor

The ride even made an appearance at a family event

THE car that Prince Harry used for dates with Meghan Markle when the pair first met is up for sale.

Harry used the luxury Audi RS6 Avant as a "runaround" at the start of their relationship.

He is believed to have picked his now-wife up from Heathrow Airport in the car when she jetted over to the UK from Canada.

Decked out in a "Daytona Grey" paint job, it boasts over £11,000 of optional extras, including a panoramic sunroof, cruise control, night vision assist and a heads-up display.

Under the hood, the twin-turbo V8 packs a proper punch, putting out a top speed of 174mph and a 0-60mph time of just 3.9 seconds.

And inside the cabin, owners can ride along in comfort, with a Bose sound system, heated seats and a seven-inch infotainment screen.

The top-of-the-range model even made an appearance at a family even in 2017, when the Duke and future Duchess travelled to Pippa Middleton's wedding reception.

It has 68,000 miles on the clock, 4,464 of which were covered by Harry during his 15-months owning the car.

The original purchase price was a whopping £91,500, but it is now on sale for just £42,000.

Cheeky petrolheads couldn't resist joking that the connection to the couple could actually be a negative for the car.

One wrote: "Harry's association should devalue it in my view."

Others joked that the motor might be a "spare" in the Prince's stable, in reference to the title of his bombshell autobiography.

However, some hit back at the tongue-in-cheek comments, with one adding: "A nice car being sold for an honest price."

Matt Bird, deputy editor of PistonHeads the site selling the car, said: "The Audi RS6 is a firm favourite among performance car enthusiasts, and rightly so.

"Even with royal blood running through its fuel lines, this example is now available for less than half the car's original purchase price.

"While most people would be forgiven for mistaking the RS6 as any other Audi-badged estate, the RS6 is genuinely capable of going toe-to-toe with most supercars when it comes to straight-line performance."

It comes after a classic Ferrari dubbed the "holy grail" fetched a record price at auction.

Meanwhile, a major car brand signed a deal to supply the Vatican with new EVs as the Pope pushes for net zero.
