Massive change coming to CarPlay – find out how it will work

A MASSIVE change is set to come to CarPlay.

Software giant Apple has unveiled the new upcoming in-car features for iPhone users - and the new motors that will be implementing them.

CarPlay can link your phone to the displays inside your car - offering you access to multiple apps and features.

This means drivers get access to music and navigation through their phone.

But now in a major refresh, the software is set to be implemented on all in-car displays rather than just the main panel.

A motoring expert took to social media to reveal the new luxury car models integrating the innovative features.

In an Instagram video, Ryan, said: "Finally we have the first two manufacturers that are going to add it to their cars.

"The first one is Porsche, it is not surprising because earlier this year they made an update to their iPhone app.

"For future Porsches iPhone is going to connect wirelessly and it is going to control things that are on the screen including the gauges."

Aston Martin is also joining the new CarPlay generation - with a personalised angled touch screen.

Both Porsche and Aston Martin will be incorporating the tech into their forthcoming vehicles from next year onwards.

The content creator added: "Sounds like Aston Martin is ready to integrate these cars mainly starting from next year.

"But they haven't confirmed what the first car is going to be like."

The massive move comes in a major revamp to the way that these cars look and feel. 

Rather than being confined to one screen, the all-new CarPlay will take over every display in a vehicle for a unified aesthetic.

Manufacturers will launch the new Taycan and DB5 with the new implementation customised according to each brand.

Alan Dye, Apple’s vice president of human interface design said: “With the next generation of CarPlay, we partnered with automakers to design an entirely new, unified experience that enables the very best of Apple and each particular automaker.

“We’ve designed a complete system of controls that allows for seamless interactions between vehicle functions alongside the features of iPhone.”
