World’s best off-roader that’s ‘built like a mini tank’ with self-inflating tyres & ‘the ability to swim’ hits auction
Another iconic motor which featured on Top Gear has also gone on sale
THE World’s best off-roader that’s “built like a mini tank” with the “ability to swim” has gone on the market.
The incredible 2017 Sherp Pro 1000, finished in green with a multicolour interior, was listed for auction on cars&bids.
It is described as an all-terrain vehicle designed to tackle the harshest off-road conditions.
The powerful motor boasts a 5-speed manual transmission and the engine has 619.5 hours of operation.
Armed with a simple but very clever design and jaw-dropping self-inflating tires, the Sherp is an extreme off-road buggy like no other.
Power comes from a Kubota 1.5-litre turbo-diesel inline-4 engine, rated at 44 horsepower and 88 lb-ft of torque.
These incredible-looking ATVs are considered to be among the most capable off-road machines on the planet.
The seller wrote in the Sherp’s listing: “I love everything about this quirky mini tank, and I’m certain the next owner will enjoy many adventures behind the joysticks!”
The seller also described the motor as having the “ability to swim” thanks to their sealed aluminium bodies and huge custom tires.
Factory equipment includes a sealed aluminium body, 71-inch tubeless low-pressure tires, a roof hatch, a roof basket and a tire inflation system.
There is also a front light bar, thermal and noise insulation interior paneling, a Webasto autonomous heater, and more.
No modifications have been reported by the selling dealer.
In the listing, he claims to have bought the Sherp in October 2023.
The attached Carfax history starts in 2023 and shows no accidents for the given time period.
The selling dealer states that this Sherp had all the fluids changed in November 2023.
The motor is also not street-legal and cannot be registered.
Viewers who were monitoring the listing were largely full of praise for the motoring beast.
One said that it would be a “dream” in a swampy area as it “would never get stuck and it floats”.
A second wrote: “OMG. I want this so bad. I’ve been dreaming of one and just throwing my dogs in, driving through the swamps without care. Whoever gets this should post up some videos.”
“This is the most sick thing I’ve seen so far,” said another.
As of the time of writing, the auction has now ended.
It comes after an ‘experimental’ Lotus supercar watched by millions on Top Gear has gone on sale after being left to rot in a hangar for years.
The iconic 1983 Lotus Esprit Turbo made history as the first motor to be fitted with a computer-controlled active suspension system.
As well as being test driven in a 1983 episode of Top Gear, this specific motor also appeared on the BBC innovation show Tomorrow’s World.
It is coming up for sale with Anglia Car Auctions of King’s Lynn for £120,000.
Last week, a “mint condition” 1986 Ford Capri hit auction in Essex, having been up and running for more than 33 years.
According to the seller, the car has had single ownership – and has hit some 119,500 miles throughout its life.
