We review the Volkswagen Golf from price to economy and all its features
A facelift that worked - it's still a beauty and some facelifts don’t work out well...
I refer the jury to Exhibit A, below.
But Exhibit B, below? Well, that looks rather splendid
That’s because the 2017 Golf – revealed today – looks no different to the 2016 Golf. It’s had such a tiny nip/tuck only a real VW nerd would notice.
Stop/go cruise control will stop you getting Chris Hoy legs in a traffic
The big news is on the inside, most notably hand gesture control for the bigger 9.2in central screen. You swipe left or right to flick through stuff like playlists.
The driver’s instrument panel is now digital with 3D mapping (thanks Audi) and stop/go cruise control will stop you getting Chris Hoy legs in a traffic jam.
What else is there? Oh yes, there’s a new 1.5-litre petrol with cylinder deactivation, seven-speed autos replace the six-speed, and the GTi gets a bit more oomph.
And, er, that’s about it.
The Golf is the best-selling VW in the world, ever. Something like 33million since 1974. And UK sales topped 78,000 last year.
It didn’t need much of a tickle.
