The Met Office have warned drivers they can expect temperatures as low as -4C across Britain in the coming days as road-users brace for icy conditions.

Posting on TikTok under the username Kol, one motorist told fellow drivers that there was no need to waste their time with other pointless de-icing hacks.

The content creator revealed to viewers that one method is better than all the rest.

He told TikTokers that pouring hot water on your frozen motor would not work.

And he also said that de-icing sprays advertised to put on at night would be no use.

He wrote: "Don't bother doing these.

"Or waste your time trying any of these, way too much effort."

Instead, the TikToker recommended a thermal windshield cover to prevent you getting ice on your windshield.

And he swears by the method, telling motorists that you only need to "leave it on the night before" to have full effect.

He demonstrated peeling back the handy cover, which costs just £5, revealing the smooth untouched glass underneath.

This comes after a genius hack was revealed to instantly melt ice on a car's windshield - and it costs just 30p.

And elsewhere, a winter survival kit has been revealed as an expert shared the essential items drivers should keep in their cars at all times.

Meanwhile, Youtuber Marc Rober also went viral for sharing his speedy four-step system to defog a windshield in no time.

However, drivers are urged that some trending car hacks could cost them £5,000 in fines or even result in a loss of licence.

One hack encourages drivers to ignore the Highway Code by not signalling property to overtake or avoid traffic.

It isn't illegal, but drivers who don't indicate when manoeuvring could be slapped with a £5,000 fine and as many as nine penalty points.
