Tesla reveal new look Model 3 to hit the UK in just a matter of DAYS – with more range & price slashed by thousands

The company promised to "stay true" to the spirit of the best-selling sports sedan.

TESLA has revealed that its new-look Model 3 will hit the UK in just days boasting better range and a lower price.

The upgraded motor is set to give drivers more freedom than ever with a record distance between required charges.

First released in 2017, the Model 3 has been given a thorough facelift by the Elon Musk-helmed manufacturer.

Sitting at the basic end of the current Tesla range, it has gained renown as one of the world’s best-selling EVs, with over 2 million sent out.

The brand said they aimed to “stay true” to the popular design while providing a bevvy of upgrades to improve customer experience.

It claims that over half a million parts have been changed, including a new lighting setup and better aerodynamics.

New tyres and a “chiselled” front end help to reduce road and wind noise, while inside better seat ventilation and individual heating helps to make it as comfy as possible.

Elsewhere in the interior, the car still features wireless phone chargers and a 15.4″ control screen, which has now taken on responsibility for gear selection and indicators.

All you have to do is sit down, press the brake and swipe the screen to engage drive or reverse and you’re ready to go.

And soon even that will be redundant as the company’s new AutoShift feature, currently in Beta testing, will see the car automatically select the right mode based on your surroundings.

Drivers can now also plump for two new colour options – stealthy grey or ultra red – as well as the pre-existing pearl white, solid black and deep blue.

The doors have also been redesigned to add heft and give a better “clunk” sound as they close.

The main changes, though, come in terms of performance, with the base model now claiming a range of 344 miles, an increase of 39 on the old version.

Even more impressive is the pricier long-range variant, with a new stated range of 421 miles.

As of the update, only the Mercedes EQS and Fisker Ocean have a higher stated range, both for a much higher price.

On the subject of prices, despite all the changes Tesla have slashed theirs, with the basic trim Model 3 coming down to £39,990 from around £42,000.

The long-range version now costs £49,990 and a Performance variant is expected to top the range at £60,000.

A Tesla spokesperson said: “This update brings more refinement and comfort – inside and out – while staying true to its sleek, uncluttered design aesthetic.

“We have not departed from what made Model 3 a global best-seller: delivering great range and efficiency with sports-car performance and handling at an approachable price point.

“The upgraded Model 3 is instantly recognisable as a Model 3 with a refined body and presence, better aero, new lighting, and a brand new interior that elevates what customers love about Model 3.”

UK customers will begin to take delivery of the updated Model 3 from January 27.
