A MOTORING expert has named the top three cars for new drivers that can be snapped up for under £3,000.

Abigayle Aundre shared her suggestions on her TikTok channel - and all were from big name brands.

In the video, she explained that the criteria were that the car had to be under budget, have less than £70,000 miles on the clock, pass an HPI check and be available from trade dealers with a full service history.

Toyota Aygo

Shopping around online, the first car she pointed out was a silver Toyota Aygo coming in at £2,690.

The exact model is a 2009 58 reg 1.0 VVT-i Platinum Euro 4 5dr.

Abigayle, said: "With this car you've even got some change left over, but don't forget to haggle."

Citroen C1

Next on her deal hunting video is a strawberry red Citroen C1, which would set you back £2,299 - netting a nice dividend of £701.

It's a 2008 08 reg 1.0i Rhythm Euro 4 3dr.

Abigayle, said: "Another little one litre, and again don't forget to haggle, the worse they can say is 'no'."

Vauxhall Corsa

Third on the list, and the most expensive out of all three is a Vauxhall Corsa, which is only £25 under budget, costing £2,975 - but is still £500 below market average according to Auto Trader.

It's a 2011 61 reg 1.0 ecoFLEX 12V Excite Euro 5 3dr (A/C).

Abigayle, said: "Last but by no means least, a Vauxhall Corsa, this one is a little bit newer and has a bit more room.

"And you still have a tiny bit of money left over."

The clever car expert finished by admitting that these were the best options she could find for a reliable cheap motor - but that's not to say that punters won't find even better bargains when hunting for their next set of wheels.

Abigayle, said: "They were the best cars of the bunch that I could find using my usual criteria on Auto Trader this week."

Car enthusiasts jumped in the comments, with some saying they need to change cars immediately.

One user said: "I can confirm the Toyota Aygo is one of the cheapest cars to run ever."

And a second user said: "I think I chose the wrong car after seeing this, I bought a 1.6 Ford fiesta Zetec and my insurance is expensive."

While a third said: "I have a Toyota Aygo, but a 2016 plate. The best car ever."

And, this motor genius said that newer cars "suck" and they could cost you thousands of pounds because they're made on "the cheap".
